The ratchet is the weakest part about the bey.

Perfect for Beyblade fans; the Sword Launcher is great.

The Beyblade X, UX-09 Samurai Saber 2-70L (Level) is an attack type Beyblade (Japanese spinning tops) by Takara Tomy (TT for short). It comes with a black Beyblade X “sword” style winder launcher and translucent purple (removable) rubber inserts that provide extra grip to the handle. The Blade is called “Samurai Saber” or “Samurai Seibā” in Japan. The gear chip’s central image is a motif of a side profile view of a Samurai character wearing a Kabuto warrior helmet. Like all Unique Line Beyblades, the launcher hooks (that latch on to the launcher’s prongs) are resin instead of metal, allowing increased outward weight distribution (OWD). It has two metal protrusions that come out at a faster speed of rotation but retract as the bey slows down, but as a side note: I did not find any conclusive instances of the gimmick actually working throughout my testings. The light green 2-sided ratchet is called 2-70 and is the least liked part of this combo due to the straight edges that stick out of the 2 sides which only poses a greater risk of bursting (which can result in a loss). The bit (the part of the Beyblade that makes contact with the stadium floor) is called “L” which stands for “Level” and is more complicated than the short name implies: There are different “levels” at the tip, with the outer edge of it allowing the bey a high level of speed around the stadium to make more attacks at the cost of a loss of stamina, the inner ring is considered a medium level speed level, and at the center it provides a low level of speed. There are 16 gear teeth on the bit that make the Beyblade attack very aggressively using the X-treme Line (the X-treme Stadium’s gear tract) but it also depletes a lot of stamina. The idea is for the Samurai Saber blade to activate its gimmick and perform a 1-hit KO (Knock-Out) at high speeds, and if not than it reverts to a smoother and rounder shape for later in the battle. I find the black Sword Launcher that comes with this bey very nice: The green winder rip-cord on the black sword launcher that works better than the other Takara Tomy ripcords due to it being longer in length; I counted 10.5 rotations as I slowly pulled the cord out, a definite improvement over a regular cord that provides only 8.5 rotations [and for some perspective, string launchers provide 11.5 rotations]. In conclusion, I think the Samurai Saber Beyblade starter set is worth the money due to the powerful winder sword launcher and the Level bit. I don’t think the protruding blade gimmick provided any significant gains in performance throughout my testings but there were some one-hit K.O.’s [so what-evs]. I feel the smooth/round shape of the blade can make this a better stamina blade IMHO. Due to the good choice in colors, handsome looks of the blade, and great battle performance, this is sure to make the perfect gift for any fan of Beyblade X (as a disclaimer: by Beyblade X fans, I am referring to those who already have a Beyblade ‘X-treme Stadium’ since this starter set does not come with a stadium).
